KaiPod Surprise Learning Coach Renee

Meet Learning Coach Renee

Renee is a joyful and enthusiastic member of the KaiPod Surprise team, joining in 2023. She is originally from Phoenix, Arizona, although she recently returned from living in Sydney, Australia, for the past 12 years.

For over 15 years, Renee has been a long-time educator teaching students of all ages and a wide variety of backgrounds on three different continents: the USA, Australia, and China. During her time in Australia, Renee taught in both mainstream public and private schools, as well as in a special education setting, as she worked for 5 years with Aspect Australia, which is Australia’s largest national service provider for students on the autism spectrum. In the USA, Renee was employed for 5 years with The Cave Creek Unified School District, and she also worked with high-risk youth at Student Choice High School in Paradise Valley. In China, Renee taught English at two separate university campuses in both the Sichuan and Jilin provinces. Renee has a range of experience teaching students from grade 5 through high school and beyond.

Working in a variety of settings with a wide range of students has taught Renee the importance of leading with respect and genuine interest in each individual, in order to create a classroom environment where all students feel welcomed and where she focuses on bringing out the best in each one of her students. Renee is qualified in Secondary Education/English and holds a B.S. degree from Southwestern College in Phoenix, Arizona. She completed further studies at International House Sydney in Australia where she obtained her CELTA certification to further support her work with diverse ELL and ELD learners. When Renee isn’t in the classroom, you can find her reading, cooking, enjoying coffee, hiking or traveling with her Australian husband, and playing with her two cats that she and her husband brought with them to the USA from Australia.

KaiPod Surprise Learning Coach Kenna

Meet Learning Coach Kenna

Kenna joined KaiPod Surprise in 2024 and comes to us from Tucson, Arizona.

Kenna is certified in elementary and special education and holds a bachelor’s degree in education from Northern Arizona University. Kenna graduated from NAU in 2013 and went on to do her student teaching at a charter school in her hometown of Tucson, Arizona. From there, she went on to begin her career in the Deer Valley Unified School District in Phoenix, Arizona.

Kenna worked as a teacher in the Deer Valley Unified School District for 11 years.  She spent that time as a special education teacher, working with students ranging from 2nd to 6th grade with varying needs and abilities. Working in special education taught her the importance of allowing each student to have their own individualized educational experience as well as differentiating learning based on students’ needs and interests.

When Kenna isn’t keeping busy in the classroom, you can find her at home, reading a good book, with her cat Bentley curled up in her lap, or playing with her two dogs, Buster and Penny. You may also find her enjoying the Phoenix scenery out on a hike or browsing a local thrift store.

A big believer in a team approach to education, Kenna looks forward to working with parents/guardians as well as students to develop learning plans that will best meet their needs. Kenna is looking forward to building connections with students and their families in order to create a positive experience during their KaiPod journey. She is excited about providing students with the freedom to explore new interests as well as fostering an environment that supports their current passions. She can’t wait to work with you and your student during this next year at KaiPod.

Flexible Curriculum Options

At KaiPod, we support families and students with your preferred curriculum of choice. Whether you already have a homeschool curriculum or an online program that works well for your child, we'll provide the support they need at the pod! If you are transitioning from a traditional public or private school, we’ll work with you to create a customized education plan.

For most students, this includes a self-paced curriculum so your child can learn at their own pace, moving faster or slower based on their own understanding. These options may include accredited online schools, workbook-based homeschool programs, or something even more customized.

We also offer three optional academic programs at no cost — Zearn (math for grades 3-8), Lexia (literacy for grades K-12), and Map Growth Assessments. Watch the video below to learn more!

At KaiPod Learning, we recognize that all students are unique and learn in different ways. Thus, we are committed to giving students the flexibility they need to maximize their learning experience. For this reason, KaiPod Learning operates on an “open door” basis. Each student may come as frequently or infrequently as they wish based on their enrolled plan. Students may come for a whole day, a partial day, or for various brief intervals throughout the course of a single day. It’s your choice. We are here to offer support when and if your student needs it.

  • Standard Enrollment Days
The standard enrollment days for our part-time enrollment plans are listed below. We are able to accommodate alternate days based on availability!

    • 2 Day Plan: Tuesday and Thursday

    • 3 Day Plan: Monday, Wednesday, and Friday

    • 4 Day Plan: Monday through Thursday

  • One Semester Commitment
All KaiPod Learning enrollment plans are based on the local 36-week calendar and require a one-semester (five-month) commitment. If enrolling mid-year, there is a five-month commitment. After the one-semester or five-month commitment, enrollments may be cancelled with 30 days written notice.

  • One Month Happiness Guarantee
We want to ensure that we’re a good fit for your family! KaiPod Learning offers a one-month happiness guarantee. This 30-day trial period offers the opportunity for each family to determine if KaiPod Learning is the best fit for them. It also allows our team the opportunity to evaluate and ensure that we have the resources needed to meet the needs of each student we welcome into our pods. Families who provide written notice of program termination within thirty (30) days of initial enrollment are waived from their one-semester commitment. Please note that the first payment of the chosen payment plan is due in full and is nonrefundable. After the initial 30 days or one-month happiness guarantee period, families are obligated to the one-semester commitment and remaining months of tuition.
